Russia halts its permanent NATO mission in response to explusion of Russian diplomats.

After the NATO leadership’s decision to expel eight Russian diplomats from their mission to Brussels, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the government will suspend the activity of NATO’s military liaisonmission and information office in Moscow as well as the recalling of accreditation of their staff starting from November 1, 2021.

NATO’s hostile decision is the latest event in the worsening relations between Russia and the West. Lavrov insists that ‘Russia didn’t start the deterioration of relations, either with NATO, or with the European Union, or with any country in the West or any other region of the world,’ and that if NATO has the honest intention of improving relations, it must make the first move in breaking the ‘wall of silence’ between the two powers.
