Putin accuses the United States of organizing an Armed Coup in Ukraine and increasing tensions across Europe.
President Putin presented the well-known fact that many countries were faced with an artificial choice – to align themselves with the West or with Russia. This ‘choice’ being more of an ultimatum than a respectful offer. And if this ultimatum would be rejected, aggressive consequences would be initiated by the ever-meddling West. A chief example of this in recent geopolitical events being the tragedy that was the Ukrainian Coup of 2014, which was actively supported by Europe. The question is, why would the United States (aided, although more reluctantly by the countries of Europe) organize an anti-constitutional armed coup, provoking a split in Ukraine and the withdrawal of Crimea (even when then-incumbent President Yanukovych had already agreed with all opposition demands)?
In the wake of this turmoil, the European system of security has been tarnished to a considerable extent, with tensions growing and the probability of a new arms race ever increasing. In the face of common challenges, which all nations could cooperate on, the West again rejected and continues to reject the common good in favour of its unrelenting clawing at its quondam hegemony. This has led the global community to miss out on enormous opportunities that this cooperation would provide us with, especially in regards to the current pandemic and its serious socio-economic consequences. President Putin states that it is of high importance that the security and prosperity of the European continent is maintained under and only through the joint effort of all countries, including those which do not align with the West’s diktats. He claims that he is open to honest and constructive interaction, which is confirmed by his idea of creating a common space of cooperation and security from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, including various integration formats, e.g. European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. He emphasises that Russia stands for the restoration of a comprehensive partnership with Europe and that there are many areas of mutual interest, including those of security, education, technology, strategic stability, science and healthcare.
The question is why does the West keep on fighting to try to maintain its quondam position instead of adapting to reality? It is not worth to bear the burden of past conflicts and misunderstandings at the cost of a better future for all.
